| All Instructor Candidates must have successfully completed an Instructor Preparatory
Course ("Prep") within in the past 12 months. For currently certified NAUI Divemasters and Assistant Instructors, the PREP is highly recommended. | |
| Proper documentation of PREP, Divemaster or A.I. certification | |
| Proof of 50 dives in varied environments, depth and activities | |
| Current certification in Diver Rescue, First Aid, CPR (one and two-person, adult and infant) | |
| Medical approval for diving by a licensed physician within the preceding 12 months |
| Underwater swim 25 yards (no fins) | |
| Swim 450 yards, any stroke, within 10 minutes, then swim additional 25 yards using any resting stroke (no fins) | |
| Transport another person 50 yards (no fins) | |
| Snorkel swim 900 yards within 18 minutes (full skin-diving equipment) | |
| Perform skin diving ditch and don | |
| Perform scuba ditch and recovery | |
| Perform scuba bailout |
| Complete personal instructor-level scuba equipment suitable for teaching in open water | |
| NAUI Instructor Manual | |
| NAUI Standards and Procedures Manual | |
| NAUI Textbooks: Current editions of Adventures in Scuba Diving and Advanced Diving | |
| Other reference books (e.g. NOAA Diving Manual, US Navy Diving Manual) | |
| Any other available training aids, color white-board markers, slides | |
| 2 passport photos |
| Tuition: Payable to Course Director in guaranteed U.S. funds. Deposit of $200.00 must be received 2 weeks before start of ITC (includes tuition, deposit, site fees, air fills, boat fees, and ITC banquet.) | |
| Certification Fees: $210.00 payable to NAUI (if completed successfully) |
